Shop Improvement Grant Scheme

Newton Abbot Town Council has allocated funds to assist with improvements to the frontages, access, or interiors of shop premises in Newton Abbot. The aim is to make a visible improvement to the look of the local shopping area.

The scheme is open to all freeholders and leaseholders with at least five years remaining on their lease, as well as tenants of premises with commercial or community service shop frontages facing the street within the town of Newton Abbot. This includes shopping parades such as those in Buckland.

A grant is available to cover up to 50% of the total expenditure on the proposed project. This means that owners or tenants will need to finance the remaining 50%.

The closing date for applications is 31st March annually. Projects can range from entirely new shop fronts and large-scale repair work to painting, signage, displays or lighting.

Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) Publication Scheme

The Council is required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to adopt a Publication Scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to make a significant amount of information available routinely, without waiting for someone to specifically request it.

Newton Abbot Town Council has adopted the Model Publication Scheme. This includes both core and optional information. The information in each category will be available in a variety of formats: as a hard copy on request from the Town Clerk, by inspection at the Council offices, or in some cases, online via the Council’s website.

Reasonable charges may apply for the provision of copies. Photocopying charges are 7p per A4 black and white page, and 17p per colour page.
