    It is our mission to provide information about dementia and living with dementia to people with dementia, their carers, families and friends, and also to professionals. We are linked to a number of local carers support groups and provide a range of activities for people with dementia and those caring for them. The independant advice and support that our branch offers is in high demand. All our work depends on our dedicated volunteers and fundraising efforts. Many of our volunteers have first hand experience of caring for someone with dementia which adds a special dimension to what we offer. If you would like to support our important work there are a number of volunteering opportunities available. As we embark on a new phase of development there couldn't be a better time to join us!   • Councilling Directory Counselling Directory is a website providing to people in the UK a counselling support network, enabling those in distress to find a counsellor close to them and appropriate for their needs. This is a free, confidential service that will hopefully encourage those in distress to seek help. The website also contains a number of sections on emotional disorders (types of distress section) and provides some useful statistics. Every counsellor on the site who has submitted their profile has either sent a copy of their qualifications and insurance cover to us, or is registered with a professional body online with recognised codes of ethics and practice, this way we can be assured of their professionalism.

  • Manorial Borough of Newton Abbot, Courts Leet & Baron.  These courts were the governing body of the southern half of the old town from Medieval to Georgian times, and still meet regularly to conduct customary business.  They also hold ceremonies of ale-tasting, beating the bounds, bread-weighing, inspecting the stocks, scavenging, searching & sealing of leather and viewing of watercourses, to commermorate their former responsibilities; and gather in early November to proclaim St. Leonard's Fair, the original charter fair of the borough.  The steward to the lord of the borough (K R Stokes-Smith Esq.) is Mr M Martyn (office tel. 01392 382981), borough crier Mrs E Davies and current portreeve Mr M Davies.

The Corps is aligned to the Royal Navy but learning skills are developed from all the sea services. We are growing in Teignbridge, in future it is planned to extend our activities to a number of Towns in the Teign Valley it is hoped that these detachments will eventually include Marine Cadets.   • Woodcraft Folk - The Woodcraft Folk is a national organisation for children and young people, designed to develop self confidence and activity in society, with the aim of building a world based on equality, friendship, peace and co-operation. This is summed up well by our motto: "Span the World with Friendship".
     
    We have five age groups:
    Woodchips                ages 0 to 5 years
    Elfins                           aged 6 to 9 years
    Pioneers                      aged 10 to 12 years
    Venture’s                     ages 13 to 15 years
    District Fellows           aged 16 to 21 years
     
    At their weekly group meetings the children and young people take part in games, craft activities, singing and drama. The groups also organise walks, camps and other outings at weekends and in the holidays.
