The Committee noted the following applications determined by Teignbridge District Council’s Development Control Committee at its meeting held on 7th January 2008:-

(a) 07/02385/MAJ – Mile End Road, Newton Abbot – Refused;

(b) 07/04440/COU – Former Hotline Renco Premises, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot – Granted;

(c) 07/04937/VAR – Buckland Athletic Football Club, South Quarry, Old Kingskerswell Road, Abbotskerswell. Granted subject to there being an official match on weekday evenings – the Chairman had responded on the Council’s behalf;

339. PLANNING APPLICATIONS AT VARIANCE WITH TOWN COUNCIL’S OBSERVATIONS

The Committee noted an application at variance with the Town Council’s observations 07/03621/FUL - Reynell Villa, Shaldon Road, Newton Abbot
Demolition of dwelling and garage and erection of 6 flats and 1 dwelling house with parking and associated works, for the following reasons:-

“It was considered that the proposed development should be approved as it was felt that the modern design, which still incorporates some good quality traditional elements such as the natural slate pitched roofs, will enhance the appearance of the area. In addition the County Highways Officer did not object to the scheme proposed.”
