I was born in Aston Birmingham in 1947 and came from a large family of 9. I went through a typical Catholic secondary education and left school at 15.
I married Joyce in 1980 and have two grown up children and one grandchild.
After having various short term jobs, I embarked on my first main career which was in motor engineering in 1968. When the family moved to Devon in 1991 I embarked on my second career, working in Psychiatric Services for South Devon Healthcare Trust NHS in their Learning Disability Team and finally with Devon Partnership Trust NHS within Mental Health Services until I retired in 2014.
My main interests are railways and cycling. I am an active member of the local Christian Church.
I am also involved with the Newton Abbot Street Pastors as the Treasurer, a street pastor and a Management Trustee of their Charity,
At present I represent the retire members of the public sector union 'Unison' as the retired officer member of Torbay Hospital Branch
