Newton in Bloom

Newton in Bloom

The Town Council's Newton in Bloom Sub-Committee was formed back in the 1980's, and is currently made up of:

  • Councillors
  • Residents
  • Representatives from the Allotments Association, Reps from Teignbridge District Council

Its original brief was the running of our local competition for residents' private gardens and displays put up by traders. Enhancement of the town centre with displays and consequent entry into the Regional Southwest in Bloom competition followed later.

Newton in Bloom Environmental Projects – Grants Scheme

A small fund is available to local community groups and schools in Newton Abbot to help start or maintain an environmental project.  Are you a member of a local community group or a parent whose child goes to a school in Newton Abbot?  Well this may be of interest to you!

It is hoped that a small amount of money like this may enable a project to get off the ground or buy something which has not been afforded.  For example money to buy starter seeds or to buy a specialised piece of equipment which hasn’t been budgeted for.

If you are interested in the above scheme and would like to benefit from this grant, please write to Natalie Hicks, Events Co-ordinator for the Town Council explaining what the
project is and how much money you would require.  On receipt of this information it will be taken to a working party and the money will be distributed thereafter.

The closing date for initial enquiries is Friday 7th September 2012.
